New Work

2024 - 2025

Several years ago, I began digitizing thousands of family photographs from both my side of the family and my wife’s. I became particularly fascinated by images and stories of fathers. As I navigated my own challenges as a new parent and worked through my relationship with my father, these photographs helped me process my emotions. This personal journey informs my new work, where I explore the symbolic, emotional, and generational impact of fatherhood.

My use of braille in my artwork further deepens this exploration. Having a long-standing relationship with braille—stemming from a fear of blindness and a close call with acute angle glaucoma—I find it to be a poignant symbol of the unseen, the unknown, and the gaps in understanding. I’ve incorporated braille alongside family history-style photographs, using it to evoke untold stories from the past and the emotional weight that we sometimes cannot articulate. Through this work, I aim to link my personal and family stories to a more universal message about the emotional and generational weight carried by fathers.
