Unleavened Bread
2014-2015
Samaritans are an ethnoreligious group closely related to Judaism and the roughly 740 that remain in the world are the last remnant of the once flourishing biblical kingdom of Israel. The Samaritans believe that Mount Gerizim, and not Jerusalem, was the original Holy Place of Israel. These photos and short documentary film show two ritual events, the Sacrifice of the Paschal Lamb and the Festival of the Matzot, that take place at the beginning and end of Passover. I was privileged to befriend Benjamin Zedak, an Elder in the community who helped make this possible.
